The Forgotten Folktale of Noah and The Great Flood
The Forgotten Folktale of Noah and The Great Flood
by Aidan Gregory
In the Mount Ararat region of modern Turkey, remnants of a long-lost tribe called the Urartians still tell a tale of the Great Flood.
The Urartians had a great mountain empire, the Kingdom of Urartu (9th–6th centuries BC), and although there were many other peoples, the Nairi, the Hayasa-Azzi, the Hurrians, and the Kura-Araxes, stretching as far back as 3500 BC, the few Urartians today still claim to be descended from Noah and the survivors of his Ark.
This story is attributed to a busker residing in Istanbul in the 1970’s. He was a magician and juggler who was raised in the mountains, and he would tell the tale of Noah, occasionally, during his rest periods to whomever would listen.
Noah, a man of God, lived in an area of Anatolia near the Mediterranean coast. His main source of income was chiefly as a goatherd, cowherd, and farmer. But over his 600 year lifespan he leaned many other crafts and trades, too, a baker, carpentry and woodworking, copperworker, weave, wine maker, fruit preserver, miller, and a beer and mead brewer.
Suffice it to say Noah was very wealthy by the time he was 600, but he didn’t hoard his wealth. He was very generous to those with bad fortune.
The Noah was associated religiously with other tribes of early Anatolia. Their religious traditions included a storm god, a sun goddess, and other deities associated with nature.
But Noah believed that there was a Creator who created everything, including the nature Gods, and he lived his life accordingly.
He received many spiritual blessings including visitations from Angels, dreams, portents, and visions. When he was nearing his 600th year, he started to receive visions from a devastating flood!
Then one night an Angel whispered in his ear to build an Ark!
Noah told his wife about it, and she wasn’t too pleased. Building the Ark was going to cost an enormous amount, requiring them to barter away many of their goods.
But Noah insisted and as his dutiful wife for the last 550 years, she acquiesced.
One night Noah received the dimensions of the Ark, and he was dismayed. It was going to be a huge boat.
Its length was to be 300 cubits, or 516 feet. It’s width-50 cubits or 86 feet. It’s hieght-30 or 53 feet. It was to be built of gopher wood and to be covered inside and out with pitch. The entire deck of the ark was covered with a gopher wood canopy, so the water would not seep into the hull.
Noah was going to need many carpenters, and he contemplated what he would tell the people of his valley when they asked him what he was building.
He decided he would say that he was going to have a team of horses to pull the ark to the Mediterranean Sea and use it as a cargo ship throughout the region. He would add oar openings later.
Noah managed to build the ark with scores of carpenters using over two thousand gopher wood trees in a few months. The entire deck of the ark was covered with a gopher wood canopy, so the water would not seep into the hull.
Noah knew that they had finished just in time because the Angel whispered in his ear again and said that the rain would begin soon.
The reason why it was going to rain, Noah was told, was because of the ongoing Sumerian, Libyan/Egyptian, and Rama empires fighting for control of the Earth.
Earth’s first firmament was created during the Lemurian Era located in the Pacific Ocean. The two layers of fresh water, one at 15000 feet and one at 35000 feet, were constructed by the original etheric civilization 35 million years ago. Temples were constructed all over the world with two or more enormous crystals within them, each over 25 feet tall. The crystals glowed in every color of the spectrum and emitted a faint hum. But rituals and ancient incantations were needed to keep the energy flow from the Earth through the crystals and then to the waters above to hold them in place.
Gold dust was also periodically added to the waters, and this helped the firmament shield the people from the Sun’s radiation and dangerous cosmic rays.
Divine aquatic creatures from the higher dimensions, would appear to float through the space between the two layers and then abruptly disappear, their presence alone a blessing.
Within the firmament there was very little wind and no rain. The people, who as the millennia passed, had acquired physical bodies and to live 1000 years was commonplace. The entire globe remained at 70 t0 75 degrees Fahrenheit.
Over time Atlantis became the dominant nation in the world and, as aggressive as they were, overthrew the government of Lemuria and Atlantis became the caretakers of the Temples.
Around 9500 BC, after the 2nd misuse of the Firestone by evil Atlanteans, the second half of the Atlantean continent collapsed from severe earthquakes and sunk beneath the sea.
The first layer of the firmament also fell, causing immense flooding.
The first firmament layer was artificially restored by a Libyan/Egyptian empire in 9400 BC.
But around 4000 BC the Sumerian Empire and the Rama Empire, with the Libyan/Egyptian Empire, were involved in a wider conflict. The Sumerians attacked India and Egypt as part of a prolonged war for control of the post Atlantean world.
The wars involved attacks on the global network of crystal temples. Enough temples were destroyed to weaken the structure, causing the firmament to rupture and the Great Flood to inundate the Earth.
Noah finished the ark. Loaded it with provisions and seeds, as did his select neighbors and friends. Noah did not like the idea of fooling so many people who did not know about the coming rains, but if he had told more people, they would have overrun the ark.
One day the rain began and it fell in sheets. His family and neighbors hurried the livestock into the hull as best they could, but it rained so hard that many of the animals were swept away.
After a few days Noah watched the water rise quickly from the nearby river. No one tried to board his ark because many people had already been swept away.
Around the 3rd day of ceaseless rain, the ark began to float. As it rose from its moorings, it creaked loudly and the animals shrieked with fear.
The ark floated aimlessly in the huge waves for the next 35 days.
When the rain stopped, Noah and the others retrieved a stowed rudder and affixed at the stern of the ark. They the raised sails that were atop the wooden canopy, but they had to cut holes in the sails now that the firmament was gone, and the wind was blowing in gales.
After weeks of sailing, the water began to subside. Water had been seeping into cave systems and fissure that were above sea level before the flood filling the underground aquafers and eventually becoming mostly fresh water.
Land was sighted with cheers and soon, they landed in the Urartu region, what is now called the Mount Ararat region of Turkey.
Together, Noah and the others unloaded the ark and let the animals graze. They set about making structures for shelter and clearing fields for planting.
Other survivors appeared and at first they all got along, but eventually fighting broke out for one reason or another, and Noah and his people migrated down to the lower regions where even more survivors had organized and applied law and order.
There, Noah and his people flourished again, and even with the firmament now gone, Noah lived to over 950 years.
